Your responsibilities and tasks:

This position is a sales manager role for Contained Products of Pharma Technologies in North America. This position reports to the GEA Pharma North American Pharma Project Sales Director.
The Contained Product Sales Manager (“CPM”) is responsible for maintaining and generating new business for GEA’s Pharmaceutical technology as established in its broad range of equipment and systems, for Potent Material Containment systems , and Tablet Presses. The CPM will accomplish this by developing professional business relationships with pharmaceutical executives, production managers, operators, and process engineers in a consultative selling role. The CPM will identify, qualify, log and pursue leads and opportunities while gathering and communicating market intelligence. The CPM will coordinate and manage the flow of pre-sale information between the GEA North America entity, GEA’s Core Technology Centers in Europe and the customer. The CPM is the customer advocate within GEA, while balancing the Order Intake and Profit requirements of GEA.

  • Effect sales of GEA pharmaceutical technology and represent the company in a professional manner.
  • Seek out business by visiting and presenting GEA’s position in the pharmaceutical industry to new customers, as well as visiting existing customers and maintaining relationships with them. Follow-up with written trip reports.
  • Work closely with customers in a problem-solving mode where GEA’s pharmaceutical technologies bring benefit to the customer.
  • Identify sales leads, qualify and pursue the business accordingly. Develop trusting relationships based upon expertise, integrity and friendliness.
  • Acquire sales and market intelligence on issues such as competition, price, and project status.
  • Handle telephone and written inquiries and aggressively follow up in a timely manner throughout the sales process until final determination of customer action.
  • Seek advice and guidance with respect to the business at hand from experienced GEA process or mechanical engineers when appropriate.
  • Make a persuasive formal proposal presentation.
  • Assist with the set-up and fully participate in trade shows as assigned.
  • Negotiate secrecy agreements, terms of payment and conditions of sale.
  • Issue order confirmations and participate in turnover meetings with engineering
  • Routinely update and add to the SAP C4C CRM to reflect current developments in customer opportunities.
  • Provide weekly reports to the Pharma Project Sales Director with 2-week out travel plans and customer activity updates.
  • Manage expense account for travel and entertainment on a timely basis.
  • Contributes to team effort by completing all tasks as may be assigned by the Pharma Project Sales Director.

Your profile and qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or equivalent technical degree required.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of in the market for business development and sales experience in the Pharmaceutical - Oral Solid Dosage space.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively communicate technical data.
  • Desirable to have knowledge of pharmaceutical processing equipment, FDA regulations and standards such as cGMP, ISPE, USP, etc. as related to the Oral Solid Dosage in the following areas:
    • Tablet compression technology
    • Powder material flow and handling
    • OEB containment levels for potent materials
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal.
  • Must possess good interpersonal skills and work well in a team setting as well as independently
  • Must be detail oriented and have a demonstrated ability to provide timely feedback to both internal and external customers.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%, as business development and sale assignments and industry functions require.
  • Must have proficiency in MS Office products
  • Must be self-motivated with a “can do” and “hands-on” aptitude.
